240 Volt Shlock

Recently my employment situation was proving to be rather tenuous as a result of having to rely on mostly temping agency work in essentially non Creative or Media orientated industries. Though fortunately I have now managed at long last to find an Agency that really seems to understand me (most people appear to find this rather difficult) and as a consequence of this they have managed to place me with some very good quality, ethically viable, creative Marketing companies. This is a sort of secondary area for which I seem to have a certain flair backed up with a lot of good quality experience and fortunately I have an assured position with a specialist I.T. company for next year. At least I will be able to look forward to a reasonably long period of financial security for a change.
My friend and colleague Mark (partner in the Wood & Partridge Empire) is returning to his native USA in January for an annual visit and plans to meet up with friends; Abba, and Amitty. He will be staying with Abba's relatives in the Queens borough of New York. Naturally, it would be difficult to imagine a more fortuitously poignant location in view of recent events, and Mark promises to provide me with some interesting though happier photos. A diary piece would also be very much appreciated.
Christmas seems to have arrived quite early in my village this year in so far as the place has been festooned with decorations since about the end of November. One consolation is that they tend to do it quite tastefully. here. I seem to remember the Parish council outlawing coloured fairy lights a year after I arrived and although this years decorations have a typically understated elegance I can't help feeling that the coloured lights strung up in the trees and main street in 97 where hardly offensive. Of course, coloured lights are more traditional. As ever though, I do like to court controversy and have to admit that I think aesthetic policing is a very good idea and something I would whole heatedly support. Particularly in a community like this which is only just managing to hang on to its heritage feel by the skin of its teeth?
